A Long Way Home

This is a chilled acoustic track, my first here, that I enjoyed making and I hope you enjoy listening to! It started off with a fantasy influence and then just went off on a tangent :)

I've only got a PC for recording/mixing, and im using a Yamaha FG730S folk acoustic and a Shure SM-57 mic fed through a simple ART valve preamp...I tried to get a nice crisp, wide sound with double-tracked rhythm acoustics and a varied lead - a bit of classical, a bit of spanish influence, even a bit of rock/blues. Unfortunately I don't have a very good recording sound card so its not as rich sounding as I would like, but I spent alot of time on the guitar sound with mic placement, EQ, compression and reverb. There's also a few samples in there, and I mastered it too.

This is my first track on Bandamp, so please let me know what you think, constructive criticism is important to me. Go easy, the entire song was completed from concept > recording > mixing > mastering in a single day :)

This is just a sketch I did on my computer at home. I'm going to record it in a studio this week and thought it would be nice with some feedback on it before I record it.

Hold Your Guns

This one is about war. its my best sad song yet i think. If you listen you should hear that each section of the song is about certain things to do with this marriage and the situation: 1st verse is with a wife at home in the morning, bridge is with the husband out at war, chorus is the connection.
would love to hear your opinions. Cheers

BluesMan

What to say about this song... it's a song I wrote long time ago. It's a song about blues and how gr8 blues is and when I listen blues I don't need anything else 'cause it feels so good. It's blues-rock song, I hope u'll like it. And this is first time u'll hear me singing. Not really the best I can show, this song was recorded when I was 17, that was 3 years ago. Expect next month something brand new. :)

I don't care...

The music is mine, the lyrics belong to the lead singer.I am the guitar player, the name of the band is "Tentatii". We used to play pop-rock for a long time and this was our first alternative song because of a request of a producer, and it was successful.

Lyrics are:

1)
Today I waited for a phone again,
I waited laid down on my bed,
I waited but it didn't ring...

Now I think I know what happened,
You met somebody else,
Much better,stronger man...

Bridge:
I would want to fly away to the place you are,
To be one single body, to read my eyes...
Do you think you can?

Chorus:
My life is on the line, but I just don;t care at all...
My life is on the line, I would like to turn back,
My life is on the line, but I just don;t care at all...,
My life is on the line, only I know if I still resist...

2)
I tried to understand you,
I stopped to believe you,
The answer comes innocently...

You met somebody else,
Oneday, somewhere,
The answer comes with indifference...

Bridge, Chorus

The end:
Yes, yes, yes...

Enjoy it!

Is this recording?

This is another of my one-day projects, recorded AGES ago. Im posting this for fun not because I really expect any praise out of it lol. I kinda like the melodic progression/chord sequence but yes I'm aware that the lead work has absolutely no real structure to it - but it was intended that way.

Essentially, the lead was completely made up on the spot in one take and was a complete experiment. Please don't expect anything coherent, but I like to think I got some nice sounds out of my guitar that day! I wasn't trying to play too accurately in terms of scales or timing, and I didnt feel like putting anything especially technical in there - I was just going with the flow and seeing what happened!

I know the backing is repetitive too, but it's 2m long so hopefully won't bore you to death. A simple listen would be appreciated, even if its to say 'wtf were you smoking that day, wheres the structure!?'

In fact, I only realised I'd checked 'record' on the track in Cubase until after it had finished recording. Whence the fact the lead spills over the end a little lol...

And yes, the *software* distortion is evil and too loud. That lead tone is quite creamy but really grates 'cos its completely electronic! I now have a Shure SM-57 mic with preamp to record my Laney 120w amp and Boss GT-8, so please expect much better in future!

Feeling the Blues (ver2)

Here is the proper version of this song. The quality isn't very good, and last time something was wrong with downloading so the song became slower and voice deeper but now this problem is solved. So I ask anybody who already heard the "wrong" version to hear this one. Enjoy and put your comments.

Simple

WORD OF WARNING - FOR SOME REASON UPLOADING THIS SONG HAS CAUSED IT TO DROP IN PITCH AND PLAY SLOWER. THE ORIGINAL IS *FASTER* AND SLIGHTLY HIGHER-PITCHED.

I kinda like this one because it has two quite rhythmically different clean guitar parts panned either side - apart from that its kinda dire lol.

Another of my one-day projects from some time ago, I was working with very limited resources. That *horrible* lead distortion is software, and the 'bass' was played on an electric guitar and made to sound 'bass-like'. Listen out for it lol...

My favourite bits are the palm-muted rhythm at 8 bars in, and I also like the wide panned distorted rhythm guitars that come in for the 'chorus'.

And yes, you guessed it, the solo is sketchy 'cos it was done in one take and completely improvised! Fastest playing is at about 1m45 - I wanted to save it :) Obscured by that evil distortion tho!

Anyway, I can't wait until I can do some good recordings with my new equipment but for the mean time I just thought I'd shove this old crap on here to show a few of my musical ideas.
